‘Pushed out’ young people tell us that if they are immersed in an environment, which has a purpose and relevance connected to their passions, talents and skills, their lives are transformed.

We also know that marginalised and vulnerable young people lacking the support network of extended family or ‘professional friends’ are at particular risk of becoming NEET.

We therefore believe that if you give young people, particularly those who are ‘pushed out’, access and opportunities that will provide authentic insight and learning to help them in understanding how skills borne from their personal context connect with the world of work, it can be a powerful motivator and help them to engage and take responsibility for learning new skills that will help them present their best face for work.
